Repair & Custom

If you're new to Alpacka, the first thing to check out here is our Raft Durability Page.

Tough as Alpacka Rafts are, they do get damaged from time to time.  The most common culprits are forceful impacts on sharp objects (broken shale, barbed wire, etc.) and operator accidents (such as hooking your foot on the seat during a bail-out).

Our design emphasis is on field repairability.  When it really counts, it doesn't matter what someone can do with a hot air welder 4,000 miles away.

Service by Alpacka Raft:

We can do repairs at our workshop, as well as certain modifications.  The procedure is:

  1. Clean & Dry Your Boat.  Our shop isn't set up to clean or dry boats.  A boat shipped wet stinks and may stink permanently.  There are three "ouch!" fees you can avoid: washing, drying, and pain & suffering.
  2. Include a Note: Enclose a note with your name, contact info, and request for repairs.
  3. Write your name on your boat or on a piece of masking tape and place it next to the main valve.  Don't do this on duct tape - it wears off immediately!
  4. Ship to: Alpacka Raft LLC, P.O. Box 1091, Mancos CO 81328.
  5. Order through our website for the service in question (see "Parts & Service, at screen left).  If everything you need is listed, go ahead and pay via credit card.  If some or all of the services you need aren't listed, simply order "Service" and leave the order unpaid.   When your boat arrives, we can alter your order and send an up-to-date e-mail invoice for payment.  Placing this order through our site ensures that we get the proper shipping address and have a reference in our system for your boat.

Although this might seem complex, it hastens turnaround time and makes it easy to track your boat.  Boats that get sent in undocumented or with no accompanying service order often end up sitting for a bit while we sort out who it's from, what it needs, and if it's been paid.
