Packrafts

Sheri Tingey and her son Thor made the first Alpacka Raft in the basement of their Chugiak, Alaska home in 2000.  Their vision was simple–to build an ultralightweight, high-performance, low-maintenance, and bombproof packraft that could withstand the rigors of epic traverses through the Alaskan wilderness.  Through constant experimentation and testing, we’ve made a lot of innovations to our packrafts over the years, but we’ve always stayed true to that original vision.

Our  product line features the newest innovations and technologies available, all developed in house using a mix of traditional and modern methods of design and manufacturing. Our time tested Alpacka Series features a lightweight one-way inflate/deflate valve, handles for easy carrying, D-Rings for adding our custom foam backband, and build options in Open, our classic Cruiser Deck, the dry and secure Whitewater Deck, the versatile removable Whitewater Deck, and Self Bailing, all with or without the option of our innovative Cargo Fly system. The Whitewater Series features the 10-inch tube Alpackalypse and the 12-inch tube Gnarwhal, both of which feature our exclusive patent-pending hull design and 4-point thigh straps, the latest in lightweight and high performance seating systems, and the Cargo Fly system. The Cargo Series features the lightweight Explorer 42 that is ideal for ultralight two person adventures, solo paddlers with a dog or extra gear, or parents introducing children to watersports; the versatile Gnu that can be setup for classic style canoe trips with the Touring Seat option or adventure racing and whitewater with the C2 seating system; and the Forager which our largest packraft ever and is the ultimate two person travel packraft for fly in trips to the Arctic, moose hunting in the Yukon, and self support Grand Canyon trips. Finally, the Ultralight Series focuses on keeping weight and bulk to the absolute minimum and features the time tested Scout that is highly durable and yet ultralight at under 3 pounds and the all new Caribou which is the lightest full size packraft on the market at just 4lbs 12oz and features our late rise rocker technology and custom tiedowns specifically built for bike-rafting and carrying heavy loads on the bow. All of our packrafts are handmade in our Mancos, Colorado facility by craftsmen and women using the finest raw materials, workmanship and design available anywhere.
